Week in Review: A cold dose of entrepreneurship reality

We are halfway through the month of April and as usual I am checking my calendar. This upcoming week will be just as busy as lasts. Last week I emcee'd 'Cannabis and The Consumer', got briefed on a event I am emceeing this weekend, dropped a trailer for a marketing promo we filmed with another organization two weeks prior, and hosted our weekly #weedcrushwednesday on Instagram. Check out some screenshots below of our weekly IG Live with some of the cannabis industries most interesting and hardworking people!

Last month I took my first trip to Boston! I, along with my co-founder Safon had the pleasure of speaking on panels at the New England Cannabis Convention (NECANN). Her panel discussed media and cannabis culture, and mine was Marketing for cannabis businesses. I also took a trip to DC last month to moderate a panel with the DC chapter of Women Grow. A topic near and dear to my heart was covered: Culinary Opportunities in Cannabis. I even won a magical butter machine!!!

I also traveled to DC last month to moderate a panel with the DC chapter of Women Grow. A topic near and dear to my heart was covered FOOD! lol

Actually the official event title was: Culinary Opportunities in Cannabis.

I even won a magical butter machine!!! As a home cook and proud #foodie, I am always eager to try new cooking gadgets.

She's a winner!

She's a winner!

But the truth of the matter is, entrepreneurship is taxing. On the mind, body, and soul. However, over the last few years I have seen my mindset change for the absolute best. I take time in the mornings to do a daily devotional and have gotten into a workout groove - hitting the mat and a youtube video at least 3x per week. Keeping my mind in shape helps other aspects of my life fall into alignment much easier. If I find myself getting overwhelmed by my to-do list and various obligations I know how to get my mind clear. Lately before an event I am hosting or before I conduct an interview, if the weather permits I will take a walk. I go to the park a couple of blocks from my apartment and just clear my head and breathe.

This week it's WEED WEEK (4/20), aside from my normal EstroHaze business and client work with Savage Social Media, I'll be traveling to DC for the National Cannabis Festival where I'll be emceeing the CannaTank pitch competition. It was around this time last year that I was getting ready to pitch EstroHaze at our first demo day. I can only imagine how stressed the finalist are as they work to perfect their 3min business pitches. I don't envy them AT ALL! Next weekend I'll be in Connecticut speaking at yet another cannabis related event.

All I know is I work to continuously refine my idea of entrepreneurship, along with trying to navigate WTF it means to be a co-founder and CMO in 2018 of a blossoming lifestyle media company.

It's not easy, but I would not change anything!
