Promotion & Provision

This was my feeling when I awoke this past Saturday to the true realization that I was now pursuing acting full time. The last week at my job was peaceful, I started there gracefully & exited just the same. From the moment I put in my 2-week notice God confirmed it. I have been abundantly blessed with provision, direction, and peace since taking on this new challenge.

It was just like Deuteronomy 1:8 says:

"Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the LORD swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants."

It's funny,  earlier today I read a journal entry from this exact day last year.  I had 3 auditions lined up, I was acting fairly often, mostly unpaid. Pretty much doing what I wanted to be doing and yet I still felt confused, and unsure. In fact I was making mental adjustments like - "if I don't get a "real job soon" Im moving in with my nana to regroup & relaunch."  I confess I even referred to myself as "scatter-brained".

But now look at me, a year later Im focused, determined, clear and firm in God's direction of my life.

So this time, I decided to heed the probings and start...

Over the last few months I have been preparing myself for this transition. I've enrolled in acting classes like scene study at TVI Studios -New York, taken new head-shots and began creating my acting reel. All of these things to take my acting career from the casual level to the committed level. That's my friend/editor's hand in lower left corner working on my reel.

Every turn of the acting journey is exciting to me. From getting the suggested reading list from our Scene Study instructor to deciding which head-shots will look better for TV/Film castings vs Commercials. There is more work to do and I am so glad I have an opportunity to do it.

The absolute best thing that happened though was my mom texting me a picture of her ticket to my 1st feature film See You Next Tuesday  and then the follow-up photos of my name in the credits...thats me Shondra, and a picture of her, my step-dad and the films director Drew Tobia.

Other than laying the foundation for world domination via acting in 2014 I've just been doing what other actors do - reading, exploring, writing, living, watching, entertaining & eating!
