Work From Home? Here's What to Wear

I am ecstatic about the new year, and I hope if you're reading this you are as well. If not, perk up, cause we're talking fashion!

The end of 2017 was rocky for me, and not in a bad way. It was rough in that there was a lot going on. My co founders and I got back to NYC in August, and we had interviews and speaking engagements that led us through the end of the year. I also found myself applying for a new job. That process involved several rounds of interviews, both in person and virtual plus a pdf presentation that I had to complete in a weekend. Add in a few stressful days of looking for, and making travel arrangements for myself, partner and dog for Christmas. By the time my vacation started on Dec 19th I was ready to GO!

One of the best parts of the holidays for me is shopping. For many years, the day after Christmas my friends and I would pile into someone's car and drive from Maryland to New York to shop at Woodbury Commons outlet! lol We'd come back with soooo many bags. Clothes from Off Saks 5th, Prada, Nike you name it. The deals were sooo good! I remember getting a pair of Dolce & Gabbana jeans for $20 by the time all of the markdowns were added.

Since the new year came in, I've made a few new purchases. Getting items from new favorites stores: And Other Stories and COS -- the getting was good. I have been wanting to update my "work from home" look for awhile. The previous era consisted of leggings and a tunic style top, unless it was the summer then it was a range of moo moo dresses and pair of minnetonka loafers. I vowed to glam things up for 2018. From tuxedo pants to an updated plaid suit, I am getting ready to kill all the engagements both online and in person.

One thing I know is how hard it can be to jazz things up when you work from home. It's cold right now in NY and my heater stays on 24/7. In the mornings I am tempted to throw on some sweats, brush my teeth, wipe the crust out my eye, walk the dog, grab a cup of coffee and hit my desk. However I have found that I am much more productive and confident when I put some time and effort into my look. I might not have to go anywhere but I do have skype meetings/calls and occasionally go live on social media for business so I need to look polished.

I have also found that when I am fully dressed, down to the shoes if someone calls me and invites me out, I am much more receptive to the invite.

This time of year I am all about chunky sweaters, fleece-lined tights, cute gloves/mittens, and bright colored anything! I got the cutest orange top from COS and I can't wait to rock it. Below are a few of my work from home/coffee shop looks followed by a few pieces to give your wardrobe a jumpstart for 2018.
